THE PROBLEM

Crops under protection perform better but can become stressed very quickly, affecting yield and quality, gradeout and profit. Venting decisions for temperature, humidity and wind often require the experience and skill of senior managemnt, who cannot always be in the field.

THE HAYGROVE SOLUTION

The Haygrove Tunnel Enviromanager is designed to improve crop and tunnel quality management by automatically sending environment readings to the mobile phone of the best production decision taker on the farm, via text message or email, at whatever interval is required.

Standard sensors include internal and external tunnel temperature, internal and external humidity, and wind- speed.Wind direction, rainfall, soil moisture, solar radiation, leaf wetness and other sensors can be added.

Max and min parameters for each sensor can be programmed, and read, in the field or at the data base unit in the office. All readings are recorded and can be graphed, using user friendly Windows software, which interfaces with neutron probe soil moisture software. A complete crop environment history can be reviewed with overlaid graphs.

The Enviromanager primarily seeks to respond to the need of growers with over 1 hectare of tunnels, giving the confidence to expand.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  • The system comprises Field Units which can be placed at various locations up to 5 km from the Base Unit and needs an office-based PC running VVindows 95 or above.
  • All Field Units are weatherproof and solar powered, and send data automatically
  • The solar-charged internal battery will supply power for approximately twenty days without light.
  • The Field Units can store data for a minimum of 7 days when moving base unit.

ALARMING

  • If a sensor's max or min parameters are exceeded...
    • an audible alarm is triggered in the field
    • AND in the office (if required)
    • AND a data alarm is sent automatically to predetermined mobile phone(s).
    • AND an email is sent.
  • People at all levels are informed.

STATUS

  • At regular intervals the unit can send the current status of all sensors...
    • To a list of mobile phone(s).
    • As an email
    • To update a web site for viewing with a browser from anywhere in the world.

USE

  • You may choose to position the Enviromanager field units on a wind exposed site, or a large flat field where summer temperatures can escalate, or in a frost hollow.
  • In addition, the Enviromanager may be used for live monitoring and alarming of coldstore temperatures and humidifies, for live information on distant locations, for animal housing, for ...
